The heart and the mouth must agree

Day

Scripture
Romans 10:9-13  (BSFL*)
Translation
NIV

What God said to me
The heart and mouth must agree. Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sin and rose from the dead. Confess this belief with your mouth. And eternal life is inevitable.
What I said to God
I believe in my heart and have confessed with my mouth. Work in the hearts and lives of those around me that they might believe and confess as well, if they have not already done so. Oh, that everyone might know You like I know You!

The same forever

Scripture
Romans 4:1-3, 23-25  (BSFL*)
Translation
NIV

What God said to me
Because Abraham believed I would allow Jesus to die for the sins of all, his own sin debt was counted among the debts that were paid by Jesus' selfless act. The same act that covered Abraham’s sin covers the sin of those who believe today.
What I said to God
I somehow feel a little closer to Abraham knowing that the faith he displayed so long ago is no different from the faith I display today.

Scripture
1 Timothy 2:3-6   (BSFL*)
Translation
NIV

What God said to me
Pray for everyone to know the truth about eternal life. This would be great. I want everyone to know the truth.
What I said to God
I will pray. Help me to never show partiality by praying for some and not others.

You in me

Scripture
John 14:6-11   (BSFL*)
Translation
NIV

What God said to me
Eternal life is only possible through Jesus. To have a personal relationship with Him is to have a personal relationship with Me.
What I said to God
I was particularly drawn to the verse about You and Jesus being “in” each other. Though I have read this scripture many times over the years, this is the first time this particular part has stood out for me. This concept taken to the extent of Your being in me is what really stood out to me in the book “Mister God, this is Anna.” You in me, me in You, building relationships together.
