Scripture | Genesis 3:1-6,16-19,24 (BSFL*) | Translation | NIV |
What God said to me | Sin is sin! There are no degrees of sin; no sinful thought or act is less sinful than any other. And all sin has consequences. Today, you are wondering about the consequences of your hurtful words to your friend yesterday. Sadly, this thoughtless act will impact your relationship with her. You did tell her later that you did not mean to be so ugly, but did you ask her to forgive you? You should confess your sin to her in specific terms (i.e. “I apologize for making hurtful remarks to you” rather than “I’m sorry if I hurt you”). There is no “if” about it. You were wrong and you know you were wrong. Do not try to make excuses. There are no excuses for sinful behaviors. You have confessed it to Me. Confess it to her and ask her to forgive you. Then, and only then, can healing begin. |
What I said to God | You always know what I need to hear and when I need to hear it. I should see my friend again today. I will make time to confess to her and ask for her forgiveness. Thank You for providing redemption and healing. Your mercy never fails. |
