Who is Lord?

Scripture
1 Peter 3:15-17 (BSFL*)
Translation
NIV

What God said to me
Give Me Lordship. Set aside your burdens and your sins. They too easily distract you. You told me I could be Lord of your life. Why do you keep trying to be in charge? Remember the balance we discussed yesterday? This is step one in getting there. You continue to study so that you are prepared any time you have the opportunity to share your faith. The more Lordship I have over your life, the more naturally you will be able to share your faith with gentleness and respect. And, yes, as unnatural as it may seem, people will say mean and hurtful things about you and to you regardless of the amount of control I have in your life. Know that I am not finished with them yet either. J Wouldn’t you rather have your conscience clear, knowing that you have done what is right and good in My eyes? Find comfort in the fact that I (and myriad other witnesses) see you. I know your heart. Surrender it wholly to Me.
What I said to God
Oh, my! You are right! (again). Why have I not learned this lesson yet? How many times (rhetorically speaking, of course, because I don’t even want to think about it) have I given You Lordship of my life and little by little or big by big taken it back? Yesterday, when it took me four hours to get through such a short passage of scripture I was already resigning myself to the fact that daily time devoted to You would be an impossibility when I go back to my 10-hour work days on Monday. This morning when my alarm sounded, I did not want to get out of bed so soon. I want to take this step. It just seems so impossible! Too many things get in the way. I guess that’s why You were compelled to remind me to set aside my burdens and my sins. Forgive me for not trusting you. I have never known You to be anything other than trustworthy. Forgive me for giving my life to You yet continuing to try to dictate what You do with it. Give me grace to trust You more.
